THREE ONE-ACT PLAYS
• Jellicoe Hall was crowded last evening when the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society successfully presented three one-act plays, all produced by amateurs. Miss Pessy Hollander, who was responsible for the first play on the programme, had done splendidly with her all-women cast, -which included some players who had had little earlier experience, and others who are improving rapidly. The cast comprised Misses Phyllis White, Patricia Sorrell, Audrey Bailey, Mrs Muriel Cochrane, Misses Edna Odell, Beryl Bigg-Wither, and Mrs Peirdre Duff. Very well cast was a Victorian play of the time when Ole Bull and Liszt were the rage in musical circles in London, and the old-world dressing and mounting added to the -pleasing effect. The players were; Mrs Edna Milne, Mrs Wanaka Atkinson, Miss Ivy Robinson, Mr Barrie Cookson, Mrs Gertrude Crozier, Miss Mary Hunt, and Mr Rex Booth. Miss Marie Donaldson was the producer. Mr Guy Cotterill with his customary aplomb was a tower of strength to the cast of a modern play and honours were shared by a young performer, Miss Barbara Gudgeon. Excellent support was given by the other members of the cast—Mr Charles Hobbs, Me John Garland. Miss Patricia Simpson, Miss Marijean Edmonds, Mrs Lilian Wyatt, and Mr Boyd Callaway.
