CASUALTIES IN AIR FORCE
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 29. The following Air Force casualties were announced to-day:— Sergeant Frederick Simpson Hobden, R.N.Z.A.F., killed in a flying accident. His mother is Mrs Hobden, Harefleld, Sussex. Sergeant Hobden was born in Sussex in 1912. In New Zealand he studied at Massey College for a period, and at the time of his enlistment he was engaged in farming at Matamata. Flying Officer Owen Edward Lamb, previously reported missing, believed to be killed, now confirmed killed on air operations. His uncle is Mr W. B. Reid, of Ponsonby. Flying Officer Lamb was born at Auckland in 1917. He was well known in Wellington as. a former secretary of Swifts Football Club.
