DEATH OF MR C. ALMA BAKER
DONOR OF £30,000 FOR AIRCRAFT
(Received April 9, 2.10 a.m.) SINGAPORE, April 8,
The death haS occurred in Penang of Mr C. Alma Baker, aged 84, a rubber planter and tin miner, who recently gave the Minister for Aircraft Production (Lord Beaverbrook) £30,000 for fighter aircraft, and intimated that in the event of his death he had arranged to continue war contributions- from his estate. Mr Baker is well known in New Zealand, where he lived for many years, and gained fame as a big game fisherman.
