NEW ZEALANDERS IN NAVY
TEMPORARY COMMISSIONS GRANTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Apyil 8. The Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) announced to-day that three members of the third draft of 10 candidates for service with the Royal Navy under scheme "A” have been promoted by the Admiralty to the rank of temporary lieutenant, R.N.V.R., to date as from January ,31. The Minister also said that some of the officers ha 3 been appointed to various ships of the Royal Navy, and others to instructional establishments for spiecialist courses. They are: Thomas George Brocas (Auckland), John William Moore Carpenter (Auckland), Graeme Winton Frater, promoted temporary lieutenant (Auckland) 1 , Robert Alexander Logan (Auckland), Alfred' Stapledon Miller, promoted temporary lieutenant (Auckland), Edwin James Mitchelson (Auckland), Harry Mannix Nees promoted temporary lieutenant (Dunedin). John Alexander King Spicer (Auckland), Rupert Lyell Thorpe (Auckland), and Malcolm Campbell Waylen (Wellington).
