OFFICIAL FORECASTS
(P.S.S.) WELLINGTON, April 7. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Strong south-westerly to southerly winds. Weather cold and changeable, with passing showers. Seas rough.
WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is;— Moderate to fresh south-wester-ly to southerly winds. A shower ! or two still possible, but weather ' mainly fair. Temperatures cool. * Seas moderate inshore. DOMINION The following is the forecast for the Dominion:—
Weather mainly fair on the west coast of the South Island. Elscj where cold and changeable, with j passing showers. A cyclonic depression moving south-eastward is located to the north-east of Auck- ' land. Pressure; Is very low to the south-east of New Zealand, and high over Tasmania. Winds—Fresh to strong southerly to westerly, reaching gale force in exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Moderate inshore north of East Cape and south of Farewell Spit. Elsewhere rough to very roughi Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong southwesterly winds to gales and rough seas.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and sunny yesterday morning: but the afternoon was mainly overcast, with a few light showers of rain. A strong, cold, southwest wind blew throughout the day. The maximum temperature was 57-de-grees.
At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and a light south--1 west wind waa blowing. The baro- ! ipeter was stcady at»29.651n (1004.1 I millibars).
Auckl*nd—Thew«ather was overcast and showery yesterday, with a north-west ' wind. The weather cleared when .the wind changed to south-west. The maximum temperature was 72 degrees.
