WOMEN’S CRICKET PRACTICE FOR EASTER FIXTURES Two representative women’s cricket matches are to be played during Easter at Christchurch. The Canterbury first eleven is to meet Otago in a match for the Mary Machin Shield; and the second elevens of both provinces will also play a match.

On Saturday the Canterbury first and second elevens were to play a practice game, but through a misunderstanding about where the game Was to be played, the senior team fielded only seven players and the Junior team nine. The batting standard of both teams was disappointing. The second eleven made 42 (V. Brockman 18), and in reply the first eleven made 86 (V. Russell 21 not out, P. Blackler 17). P. Blackler, with four wickets for 11 runs, bowled best for the first eleven and B. Dunn, with two for 4, did best for the second eleven.
