PRICE OF EGGS

TO THE EDITOB OP THE PRESS. ■ Sir,—ln a recent issue of your paper 1 .see that our new Minister for Agriculture (Mr Barclay) appeals to housewives to use fewer eggs and so keep the price down. The poor poultry farmer has had a very lean time recently. Wheat has been dear; pollard (owing to departmental mismanagement) has been almost unprocurable, and the egg seller has been forced to buy expensive and inferior substitutes. Now that there is a prospect of a good price for the few eggs we are still getting, the Minister has a shot at us. Lately, in an unctuous proclamation, or assuming office, this Minister described himself as the friend of every farmer. Evidently he did not include the poorest of all farmers—the poultry farmer. Give us back o.d February 25, 1941.
