The weather forecast for Canterbury. issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows; — Winds varying between northcast and north-west and gradually becoming fresh to strong. Weather fair and warm. Sea slight. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast is: Moderate winds from a westerly quarter. Weather cloudy to overcast, with drizzle and later rain extending from the south. Mild temperatures. Sea moderate, but with a considerable swell. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Scattered drizzle developing in Westland, and later in Southland and western districts of the Wellington Province. Otherwise conditions' continuing fair to fine. Mild to warm temperatures. The depression in the South Tasman Sea has remained almost stationary, while pressure is falling slowly over the jDominlon. An anti-cyclone is centred to the east. Winds—Northerlies to north-wester-lies prevailing. Force strong at times about and south of Cook Strait, but otherwise moderate. Seas—Rough in Cook Strait. Elsewhere slight or moderate, but a considerable swell south of Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea—North-westerly to westerly winds, light to moderate in the northern portion, with slight seas. Becoming strong in southern portion, with seas rising to rough. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The morning was cloudy but warm in the city yesterday. The sky cleared about midday and there was brilliant sunshine throughout the afternoon, with a north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 69.6 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and there was a southwest wind. The temperature was 69 degrees and the barometer, at , 29.99 inches (1015.6 millibars) was ' steady. Dunedin—There was again bright sunshine yesterday, with a light breeze from the north-east and passing clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures were mild to warm. The maximum was 73 degrees, and the barometer after falling to 29.92 inches (1012 millibars) was rising last night.
