Mails will close at the Chief Post Office, Christchurch, as under:— Arthur's Pass, Otira, Greymouth, Westport, Hokitika, and other offices, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 9 a.m.; guard's van, 10 a.m.; daily, 1 a.m.; also Nelson (letters only), express goods train daily (except Saturday and Sunday). 4.45 p.m.; late fee, guard's van. 6 p.m.; Saturday, 5 p.m.; late fee, guard's van, 7.25 p.m. Picton, Blenheim, Kaikoura, Clarence Bridge, Kekerangu, and Seddqn (via Hundalee), daily. 7 a.m.; guard's van, 8.20 a.m. Ashburton, Geraldine, Temuka, Timaru, Waimate, Oamaru, and Dunedin, express goods, Monday to Friday, 5 p.m.; late fee letters, 6 p.m, Rakaia, Ashburton. Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, and intermediate offices, expresses daily. 7.30 a.m.; mail van. 8.35 a.m.; Wednesday and Friday. 11.10 a.m.; late fee, 11.45 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.25 p.m. Sunday only, Timaru. Oamaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, and intermediate offices (letters only), night express, 7.30 p.m.; guard's van,, 11 p.m. For North Island, 5 p.m.: late fee letters. 6 p.m.; guard’s van, 7.10 p.m. train. Parcels. 4.30 p.m. Air Mails Within New Zealand Air mails within New Zealand close at Chief Post Office, Christchurch. Northbound, Tuesday to Saturday, inclusive. 9 a.m.; south-bound. Monday to Friday, inclusive, noon. Trans-Tasman Air Mail Service Mails close this office three times each fortnight. Rates—Australia. 5d each Joz; British countries served by Empire air-mail service Is 6d each Joz. The service between Egypt and England is suspended. Foreign countries, special rates apply at Post Office. Trans-Pacific Air Mail Service Closes noon Friday. February 28. and Thursday, March' 13. Kates: New Calcdonia Is each Joz, Canton Island Is; 9d each Joz. Hawaii 2s 6d each Joz, United Slates, 4s each Joz, Hong Kong 5s 3d each Joz, Great Britain 5s 9d each Joz.
