* HACKSAWS USED IN RAID AT AUCKLAND (FB(S« 4380CUT10* riLCOBAU.) AUCKLAND, February 24. Hacksaws and other tools were used by detectives to-night when they forced their way into 91 Grey's avenue, in the city, seized a quantity of opium found on the premises and arrested two Chinese. A crowd of people gathered to watch. Detective-Sergeant Aplin was in charge of the raiding party. Two detectives mounted a ladder placed against a verandah-rail on the first floor and with hacksaws attacked heavy iron bars in front of the window. Meanwhile, others made an assault upon a steel-lined door at the back. Within a few minutes a bar had been cut through at the front window and a detective scrambled through the gap and let his fellow officers in through the back door. After a thorough l search of the premises the police took the Chinese to the Central Police Station.
