SOLDIERS FROM WESTLAND ENTERTAINED

The Mayor of Hokitika, Mi 1 G. A. Perry. Mr D. J. Evans, and Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., were present at the entertainment given the West Coast troops at the Welcome Club on Saturday evening. Many soldiers from the West Coast were present, and responded with friendly interjections to the remarks of the speakers. In providing entertainment for the men assistance was given by a party of women from the Westland Patriotic Committee.

Mr G. A. Perry, who has been Mayor of Hokitika for 31 consecutive years, remarked on the efficient way in which the entertainment was conducted, and assured the troops of the best .wishes of the people of the West Coast.
