■ He world-renowned and beloved play by Maurice Maeterlinck, “The Blue Bird,” which has been presented on the stages of 45 nations and has been translated into 32 languages, is transferred to the ( Liberty after a successful season at'the State. Shirley Temple, Spring Byington, Nigel Bruce, and many others are featured in the Technicolour film. Darryl F. Zanuck was in charge of production. A new technicolour process used has the advantage that its perfect reproduction - of colours and tones gives a heightened three-dimensional effect that makes the screen seem to be a stage, with real people walking before the footlights. ; .... "The Blue Bird,” according to Technicolour experts, was the perfect film in which to employ the new colour

technique, providing, as it does, such spectacular wonders as The Flaming Forest, the' Land of the Future with the Children Yet to Be; and the Past Where Loved Ones Live Again. An advantage of the new Technicolour is .that the modern development requires not only less light than the old, but less even than black-and-white photography. New Technicolour can be .filmed.almost in ordinary electric light which makes it easier for both actors and crews as well as making colours as true to life as the average person sees .them. • Also, the filming of twilight or night scenes can now be done in colour to an extent never permitted before. The associate feature is the comedy, starring the Jones family, “Too Busy to Work.” This film is one of the series of popular Jones family tales.
