CHRISTMAS PARTY
CANTERBURY WOMEN’S CLUB
A large number of members of the Canterbury Women's Club and their friends enjoyed an entertaining programme at the club on Saturday evening, when the annual Christmas 'arty was held. Mrs R. J. McLaren (prc_ sident) welcomed the guests and thanked them for their help during the year. She also spoke of the excellent response of members to patriotic and other appeals. Members of the music circle presented several operatic numbers in costume, under the direction of Mrs J. W. Palk. and other items included monologues by Mrs Enid Frye, a play and carol singing by club members. Amusing stories and limericks added to the enjoyment of the guests. Those taking part in the play were Mesdames R J McLaren. J. I. Smail, A. Freeman, J. P. Rickard. A. Blunt. A. E, G. Lyttle. A. C. Andrew, G. Maginness. and Miss G. Carton. ~, A special welcome was extended to wives and mothers of soloiers.
