WEDDING

MAHONEY—MCCONVILLE At the Catholic Cathedral, Barbadoes street, the marriage was celebrated on Saturday morning of Frances Ngaire, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs F, D. McConville, "Hadlow,” Cambridge terrace, to John Daniel, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Mahoney, Bletsoe avenue. The Rev. Father J. Maguire performed the ceremony and celebrated Nuptial Mass. The Cathedral had been beautifully decorated, with lilies and greenery, by girl friends of the bride. The bride was escorted by her uncle, Mr F. L. Hickman. She wore a frock of cream duchess satin made on princess lines, the side panels of the skirt being slightly gathered, and from a point below the waist at the back widened to form a graceful train. The neckline was finished with three satin roses. Her veil was of Limerick lace, which had been worn by her mother on her wedding day, and her only ornament was a sapphire and diamond brooch, which her mother had also worn. There were three bridesmaids—Miss Betty Browell (Wellington), who was chief bridesmaid, Miss Joan Mahoney, the bridegroom's sister, and the bride’s cousin, Miss Helen Hickman. They wore frocks of eau de nil taffeta, made with tight-fitting bodices and flowing skirts, the necklines and puffed sleeves being finished with latticed scallops. On their heads they wore tulle caps to match, trimmed with violet velvet flowers, and their bouquets were in violet and pink tonings. The best man was Mr P. Dunn (Wellington). and Messrs P. Keegan (Invercargill) and P. Mahoney were groomsmen. After the ceremony a luncheon party, attended by about 60 guests, was neld at “Hadlow," where the studio, used as a reception room, had been effectively decorated in heliotrope and green by Mr Cranleigh Barton. Guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy wool lace frock relieved with touches of rose to match her rose felt hat and her bouquet of rose-coloured flowers. , The bridegroom’s mother wore a black tailored suit, a white georgette blouse, and a black and white hat. She carried red roses. Mrs W. B. Clarkson, the bride’s sister, wore a navy and white ensemble and a hat to match, and her posy was of white flowers. For travelling, the bride wore a grey crepe de chine frock, a grey coat made in military style, and a grey and navy felt hat and navy accessories.
