REPEAL OF JOHNSON ACT PROPOSED WASHINGTON, December 14. The chairman of the House of Representatives Military Committee (Mr A. J. May), announced that on January 3, the first day of the new Congress, he will introduce a bill to repeal the Johnson Act, which he termed “punitive legislation.” IThe Johnson Act penalises nations which have defaulted in their Great War debts to the United States by preventing further credits to them. The act was passed in February, 1934. Groat Britain is one of the 18 countries covered by the ban.]
