BURNHAM TROOPS PARADE

TO DAY’S CEREMONY IN CITY The city will be given an opportun-

ity to-day of expressing its thanks for the service they are giving to the members of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, who have been in training at Burnham. The troops will parade at Cranmer square at 9.45 a.m., after marching from the railway

station. A number of short speeches of appreciation and well wishes will be made. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) will represent the Government, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, a member of the War Cabinet, will also be a speaker, and the city will be represented by the DeputyMayor (Cr. J. S. Barnett). The Returned Soldiers’ Association will also

express its gratitude and the military authorities will be represented by Brigadier O. H. Mead, who will take the salute. , . , ~ , The streets through which the parade will pass will be closed to vehicular traffic in accordance with an advertised announcement by the Mayor. The chief traffic inspector (Mr J. Bruorton) made a request yesterday that motorists should refrain from parking along the route of the procession. He also asked that pedestrians should keep to the footpath, so that everyone, including friends and relatives' of the troops, might obtain a good view.
