It is officially announced that tht Duke of Windsor will leave Miami at 8.30 a.m. in a United States naval aeroplane on important official business. His aide-de-camp, Captain Drury, has not revealed his destination, but it is reliably reported that the Duke will meet President Roosevelt somewhere in the Caribbean. The “Miami Herald” states: “It is learned that the Duke of Windsor will be given an opportunity of accepting or declining the appointment of Bri-
tish Ambassador to the United States before the post is offered to anyone else. The Duke may fly to see President Roosevelt for a conference on Friday on general matters, in which the. ambassadorship is bound to be a sources close to the Duke of Windsor have no knowledge of this reP °President Roosevelt has ended his tour of new United States; bases in the West Indies. He has left for an unknown destination on the cruiser Tuscaloosa. .. From London it is reported that Mr Anthony Eden is being widely discussed as a likely successor to Lord Lothian, especially as he is very popular in the United States.
