OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, December 13. The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable. A few scattered showers at first, but conditions improving from the south and becoming fine. Temperatures moderate to mild. Sea slight. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light and variable winds. Weather fine and mild. Seas slight. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is:— Weather mainly fair, but some rain at first in Canterbury and Marlborough and scattered falls extending to Wellington and Hawke’s Bay during the next 12 hours. Temperatures continuing warm in the north, otherwise
moderate to mild. A weak disturbance lies across the South Island, hut otherwise anti-cyclonic conditions obtain over the whole of New Zealand and Tasman Sea region. Winds—Light to moderate and variable, but with southelry directions-pre-dominating. Seas (New Zealand waters—Slight or moderate. , . Eastern Tasman Sea—Light and variable winds and slight seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was cold and overcast in- Christchurch yesterday, with a south-west wind and frequent showers. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and: there was a light south-west wind. The temperature was 51 degrees and the barometer at 30.18 in (1032 millibars) was steady. Temperatures were warm. • . ■ Dunedln —The day was overcast and cool. There was a moderate south-west breeze,and the maximum temperature was 58 degrees. The barometer rose steadily during the day, and in the late afternoon the reading was 30.30 inches (1026 millibars).
