Happy Helpers, Woodend Mother Bunch and Aunt Amelia took the bus to Woodend at the invitation of Joy Holbrough, leader of the Happy Helpers’ Club. Joy organised a delightful afternoon party at which the club’s Christmas Mission work was on view for parents and friends. Club members presented an entertaining programme of songs, dances, and recitations, and Mrs Hol-
brough served afternoon tea. You will see a photograph of the Happy Helpers on this page. They look happy, don't they? Waihola Club, Irwell This is another hard-working club. Read Marie Welsh’s report. “At our meeting which was held on November 23, we agreed to hold our last meeting of this year on December 14. This is also the final date for all work to be handed in. We would also like seven empty Christmas stockings, please.” Woodland Club, Fendalton “Jennifer Kensington. Janette Webley, and I (Helen Robilliard), have formed the Woodland Club. The leader
is H. Robilliard, the secretary is J Webley, the treasurer is J. Kensington, and the press reporter is H. Robilliard. "We have already made five balls, a doll’s cot, blankets, sheets, pillow, dress, and bonnet.” Mother Bunch and Aunt Amelia think this should be a first-class club. Two more badges will be posted. Young Folks’ Club, Sheffield Levina Lawrence, Sheffield, gave Aunt Amelia such a pleasant surprise this week. What was it? Read this letter and you will see. "We have formed a club. May we call it the Young Folks’ Club? We are Thelma Watson, Levina Lawrence, Robin Watson, Leslie Lawrence, Betty Watson, Willie Lawrence, Cyril Watson. We are busy making presents for the Christmas Mission, and we have a lot of bottles to sell. May we have royal blue for our colours?”
Arum Lily Club, Cheviot Lois Barrie and Ray Hines have decided to form a club. They live at Port Robinson, and this is their report: "On Saturday my two brothers and I decided to form a club. We have called it the Arum Lily Club. Ray Hines is president and treasurer, I (Lois Hines) am secretary, and Barrie
“We are going to make pin cushions, a patchwork cushion, and boot polishers. We have made one pin cushion. Our colours are green and white. Will you please send us three badges?” Starlight Club, Oxford A recent letter from Hazel Quinn, the Starlight leader, contained this
report: “Mr E. Lilley, of Oxford, won the box of chocolates which we offered for a prize for a competition. All the Starlight members would like to send their congratulations to Mr Lilley. “We wish to thank Mr Marsh for helping us with our competition. Very soon we are going to buy gifts for the Christmas Mission.” Soon after this letter arrived. Hazel
brought in a big parcel to Mother Bunch. This club has done well. Silver Birch Club, St. Albans This is an extract from a letter from Adrienne Warren, secretary of the club: “Our club, the Silver Birch, has collected quite a lot of money, some of which was spent on wool for peggy squares. We would very much like to make up a quilt.”
Sunflower Club, Papanui Here is another report from those splendid little workers of the Sunflower Club. Read what Joan Henderson, the leader, has to say: “We are very grateful to Aunt Amelia for the very generous help she gave us recently in collecting ladies’ used felt hats, which were sent to Wellington to be made into moccasins for London children. Altogether more than four dozen hats have been forwarded to date. “We wish Mother Bunch and Aunt
Amelia a very jolly Christmas. “As the club activities are drawing to a close foi 1940. we should like to take this opportunity of thanking, our numerous friend for their support during the year We are very grateful for several small cash donations received, also for parcels of gifts of various kinds. Our twins, Vera and Malcolm Wallace, are the Green Fern members now. They have made all kinds of useful gifts for the Christmas Mission. Malcolm and Vera have just spent a holiday at Dunedin. Two Willing Workers, Oaro Annie McKay and Beryl Avis are the Two Willing Workers, and willing

from Hope Harris, press reporter: “I am making an oven cloth, a scrap book, and also some other things. We are sewing the quilt up ready to send in. Irma McKinnon is making some aprons for the Christmas Mission, and Kathleen Inch is making a scrap
