HANDWORK DISPLAY
ST. MARGARET'S COLLEGE A most interesting display of handwork was shown at the annual prizegiving of St, Margaret’s College last evening. Such work has now become an important feature of what is taught in schools, and this display gives an indication that what is taught has been well learned and well applied. The display includes posters, clay modelling, needlework, and painting. The work turned out by the girls is extremely good. There are original ideas and everything shows a very good sense of des gn. The workmanship is excellent. The staff and the pupils have reason to be proud of what they have achieved. NUFFIELD KINDERGARTEN To augment the funds of the Nuffield Kindergarten, a fancy dress party for children was held recently, and many children attended. Prizes for the best costumes were presented after the grand parade. Afternoon tea was served to the adults, and the children enjoyed a “party” tea. The Christmas fair held by the kindergarten also attracted many supporters of the kindergarten and their friends. The well-stocked stalls did a brisk business. The Mayor of New Brighton (Mr E. L. Smith) declared the fair open, and with Mrs Smith welcomed Father Christmas. A cheque for £74, proceeds from a concert in aid of funds for the kindergarten association, was presented by Mr Smith to Mrs Dixey. treasurer of the kindergarten committee.
