The lady editor of "The Press" gratefully acknowledges a donation towards the Christmas fund for lepers atMakogai from "E.W." Miss Janet Studholme (Wnimate) will be a visitor to Christchurch for the agricultural and pastoral show this week.

Mrs W. Mackay (Weston road), who has 'been visiting the Gisborne district in the interests of the Now Zealand Crippled Children Society, will return to Christchurch this week. Miss Huntor-Weston (Dunedin), who is visiting Christchurch, will return homo to-clay. Miss Cullen (Napier) is spending a few days in Christchurch on her way to Groymouth, where she will spend a holiday. Mrs Malcolm Colder, who has been the guest of her mother, Mrs H. Mandeno, Dunedin, has returned to Wigram.

Miss Jane Kennedy (Invercargill) is spending a week's holiday in Christchurch.

Miss Pauline M. Robinson. M.A., daughter of the Rev. and Mrs J. Lawson Robinson, Armagh street, has been appointed to the staff of the Southland Technical College, and will take up her duties when the college reopens in February. Miss Robinson has had a successful academic career, her successes including a university entrance scholarship, a John Tinline scholarship in English, and the M.A. degree with first-class honours* in English. Her professional training was received in the Christchurch Teachers* Training College.

Thanks are also expressed to the many other anonymous donors of clothing, magazines, and food for sick and needy families.

Miss Ivy Turner (Riccarton) has left for Wellington to take a course of training at Massey College to qualify for the Women’s Emergency Herd Testers' Reserve. The course at Massey College includes practical instruction in the weighing and sampling of milk, the testing of milk and recording of results, and lectures on herd-test-ing methods. Women taking the course must know how to milk and have some knowledge of dairy farming.
