FIGHTER FUND CLOSES
CANTERBURY SUBSCRIBES £5970 Canterbury subscriptions towards the fund for buying fighter aeroplanes for the British forces amounted to £5970 Os 6d. This amount has been transmitted to the Treasury and .the fund ha's now closed. The editor of “Tile Press” acknowledges the following additional subscriptions:— Already received £5863, the Christchurch Ladies’ Golf Club £1 15s, In Memory of L.W.B. £2 2s, Christchurch Working Men’s Club £lO 10s, L.B. 6s, P. W. Sowden £3, M.K.L. ss, F.S.C. £5, Lowell and Russell Duckworth £5 ss, Dr. and Mrs C.M. £5, H.G.Y. 10s, S.R. (Heathcote) 10s, H.F, 10s, A Dunedin-ite £4, Tai Tapu Ladies’ Golf Club 10s, Aeroplane Fund £2 2s, M.A. and M.E. £l, Mr and Mrs E. W. White £5 ss, Mr and Mrs Walton Bremner £25, League' for Hard of Hearing (second donation) 10s, t staff of J. Ballantyne and Company, Ltd. (bridge evening) £34. Final total, £5970 0s 6d. An amount of £5 5s was incorrectly acknowledged to Mr and Mrs Walter Baxter, instead of Mrs Walter Baxter.
