COMPETITIONS TO OPEN ON OCTOBER 19 THREE SERVICE TEAMS TO COMPETE The Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions will open' on October 19. Entries will close on October 14. It is likely that 11 teams will compete In the senior grade, among them entries from Burnham and Harewood, and almost certainly from Wigram. Plans for the season were considered at a meeting of the management committee, over which Mr C. H. Ayling presided last evening. One-day matches will be played with hours the same as those in force last season. Points will be atlotetd as follows; Outright win, 8 points; first innings win, 6; tie, 3; draw, 2; loss on first innings, 0: win by default, 6, The Ellesmere Sub-Association advised that it would not be able to play the usual Labour Day match against a colts’ team. The association had decided at its annual meeting that because of the difficulty of obtaining teams and petrol it would play no representative, matches this season. It was decided to send a colts’ team to play North Canterbury at Rangiora on Labour Day.
