The Air Ministry announces that six German aeroplanes were shot down this morning when they were trying to cross the coast. The raiders came across in two sections, one trying to. penetrate the defences of the Thames estuary and the other the Kent defences. Both formations were broken up. Agency reports speak of German bombers and fighters this afternoon raiding two south coast towns.. Some damage was done to houses in both towns. Spitfires intervened and seven Dormers were shot down.
