KNOX CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING HELD An increase of membership was reported at the annual meeting of the Knox Presbyterian Church by the sessions clerk (Mr H. P. Donald), and the average attendance at communions. 331, was stated to show an increase of 23 on the average number for the previous year. The Rev. T. W. Armour presided over the meeting. The report of the treasurer (Mr J. H. Denford) showed an income of £2007. Ordinary collections showed an increase of £175. Contributions for missions were £336. Mrs J. L. Hay and Miss McKee outlined the activities of the .Women’s Missionary Union, and called for the support of the representative of the congregation in China (Miss F. G. Ogilvie). Miss Stevenson spoke of the work of the Ladies’ Guild for the church, the Red Cross, and refugees. Mr A. J. Campbell reported progress in Sunday school work. Mr George Davidson, .dealing with Bible class work, said that the response of the men of the congregation for war effort was creating difficulties in finding a sufficient number of leaders. Mr Donald Davidson reported on the work of the Band of Hope, and called for the interest of the congregation in temperance teaching among the young.

During the evening musical items were given by the choir, Mrs Dallison and Mr Jenkins.
