UNION JACK CLUB
GRANT FROM AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
A grant of £250 to the Union Jack Club was made by the council of the Automobile Association, Canterbury, last evening in response to a request from the club for support, Mr H. Lightband, a member of the council, and also of the house committee of the Union Jack Club, spoke of the requirements of the club and of its purposes. He said it should be made clear that the new club was in no way clashing wjth the Welcome Club. Everything was being done in a spirit of reciprocity between the two organisations, and the new club was in no way trespassing on the other’s • field. The new club would not give meals. But only light snacks, and there would be no dancing there.
