FENCING

* CANTERBURY COLLEGE V. SWORDS CLUB The annua] assault-at-arms between the Christchurch Swords Club and the Canterbury University College Fencing Club was held last evening in the Swords Club rooms. The college club being unable to enter a women's team,, it was decided to hold two pools consisting of members from each of the men's teams, the winners of the first positions in each pool to contest for first places in a final pool. There was a good attendance of members and friends and some interesting bouts were held. During the evening the visiting team was entertained at supper by the Swords Club. The bouts resulted:— First Pool—Cox, 5 wins, 0 losses; Dickison, 3 wins, 2 losses; Donovan, 2 wins, 3 losses; Davis, 2 wins, 3 losses; Crosbie, 2 wins, 3 losses; Chambers, 1 win, 4 losses. Second Pool—Farley. 3 wins. 0 losses; Cato, 2 wins, 1 loss; Lilly, 1 win, 2 losses; Lee, 0 wins, 3 losses. Final Pool—Cox. 3 wins, 1 loss; Cato, 3 wins, 1 loss; Farley, 2 wins, 2 losses; Donovan, 1 win, 3 losses; Dlckison, 1 win, 3 losses. Cox and Cato having tied for first place, a deciding bout was held between them, which was won by Cox.
