4> i • CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY ALBERTSON The final of the Canterbury amateur billiards championship was played during the week. A. Albertson defeated J. Prew by 82 -points. Albertson is well known in Canterbury and throughout the Dominion as a most successful player. He won the title last year, and is a member of the Lyttelton team, which has won the A grade interclub tournament for the last three seasons. J. Prew, the runner-up, although defeated, made the best break, 69, in the championship. The result was as follows..—A. Albeitson (Lyttelton) 1000 (25. 26. 29, 29. 29, 33. 40): J. Prew (Richmond) 918 (28, 30, 33, 33, 41, •48* 53) To assist the Red Cross funds the Canterbury Amateur Billiards Association has made arrangements for Albertson and W. Smith to play 1000 up In two sessions of 500 each at the Centennial Parlour an Wednesday and Thursday next week. Play will start at 7.30 p.m.
