CHEVIOT SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT
• ■ V , • TO THE EDITOR OI THB PRESS, Sir,—Mr G. W, Forbes, in his discourse -in Parliament, said that the school bus connected with the accident 1 on the Cheviot-Leamington run was old-and out-of-date. I would like to point out that this particular bus is the most'Tnodern of any that are used by the Education Board in North Canterbury, and it was quite recently passed by a transport inspector. Moreover, =the 'children did not scramble out through the roof of the bus,, as the roof of this bus is of steel, and was not broken, .audit 1 Carried the whole weight of the-fall; thus protecting the children. Again/ there was not petrol spouting all over' the ■ place. . As these facts were--observed by. persons who were there“l think-Mr Forbes must have listened to someone who. has an axe to grind.—Yours, ,tc„ B ,js DRIVER. Cheviot,- July 30, 1940.
