Reckless adventure in the rich fur country of the Canadian north woods is offered in Universal's "Man From Montreal,” which is coming to the Plaza.
Richard Arlen is seen as the young trapper who is unjustly arrested and charged with fur thefts and murder. Andy Devine, his co-star, has the role of a good-natured Mountie who comes to Arlen’s aid.
Kay Sutton provides effective menace in winning Arlcn’s love, then using his loyalty to gonceal the lawless activities of her husband, Reed Hadley, who poses as her brother. The manner in which Arlen manages to elude both outlaws and mounted police until he can secure evidence against the
real criminals, keeps the story moving at top Speed. Anne Gwynne has the romantic lead opposite ‘ Arlen, and helps Devine prove the young per’s innocence." The associate feature will be “Mr Wong in Chinatown,” third of the "James Lee Wong” detective series based on the Hugh Wiley magazine stories. “Mr Wong in Chinatown” again concerns the adventures of the Chinese super-sleuth. This time murder comes uninvited to his own house, where Princess Lin Hwa meets a horrible death in his private study. ■ Wong rounds up his old friend, Captain Street, of the San Francisco police department, and the hunt is on. The dwarf who lives downstairs from the princess tries to tell Wong something,
has information to impart, but she. too, is struck down. Boris Karloff is excellent as James Lee Wong, a character he has twice before portrayed on the screen, in “Mr but he ,is murdered. Her maid also
