The newly-appointed Aliens Tribunal, of which Sir Justice Callan is president, will begin its business in Wellington next week. The other two members are Colonel C. H. Weston, K.C.. of Wellington, and Mr J. H. Collins, of Wellington, and Mr Justice Collar will leave Auckland on Sunday night to join them. The duty of the tribunal, which has been set up under the Aliens Control Emergency Regulations, is to inquire into the bona fides of all enemy aliens, and to advise the Minister for' Justice as to which of then] should be interned, and what ccndiiions should be imposed. There are known to be upwards of 1500 enemy aliens in the Dominion, and it-is anticipated that the work of the tribunal, which will sit in various centres, will occupy some months.—Press Association.
