HIGH SCHOOL AT LYTTELTON
♦ CLOSING OF SECONDARY DEPARTMENT ACTION POSTPONED UNTIL END OF YEAR The secondary department of th« Lyttelton District High School is not to be closed until the end of the present year. This information was conveyed by the Minister for Education (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason) in a letter r-ceived by Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P., yesterday. . ... . The Minister referred in his letter to representations made to him last week by Mr McCombs urging that the closing of the secondary department of the school should be postponed until the end of the year to prevent undue interruption of the matriculation courses of pupils. The Canterbury Education Board had been consulted. ..... the Minister stated, and it had been. decided that the secondary department > would not be disestablished until the - | end of 1940.
