SHEARERS AND MUSTERERS
TO XHB EDiroa 03 THX PBEB9. Sir,—I -quite agree with. “Musterer’s” letter regarding shortage of musterers and shearers. I am in practically the same position, having tried without success. to . secure a married shepherd s position on high or low country. _ I consider myself quite competent in this class of workhaving had considerable experience on some of the roughest country in North Canterbury and' Marl• borough, including a season on the Molesworth station. It seems to me ' that married men are not wanted, especially if they have any children, no-matter whether handy to a school or not. When I have applied fon some positions they hajre not even had the decency to acknowledge my application. lam of the same opinion as - - “Musterer” that '‘Sheepman” does not know the true position. The men are available if wanted. My name and address has been on the State Placement Office’s books for nearly two years, but I have given up hope of securing a position as married shepherd.—Yours, et& * . ANOTHER MUSTERER. July 26, 1940.
