FAREWELL TO REV. F. E. H. PATON
SHIRLEY-RICHMOND CHURCH FUNCTION The final services of his twelve and a half years’ ministry in the ShirleyRichmond Presbyterian Church were conducted recently by the Rev. F. E. H. Paton. There were large congregations. The farewell social, presided over by the interim moderator, the Rev. George Miller, was held last Thursday, when tributes were paid to Mr Paton’s faithful ministry. The Rev. A. C. Watson spoke on behalf of the Christchurch Presbytery and St. Paul’s Church as the mother church.. Mr Miller paid a tribute to Mr Baton’s work. The session clerk, Mr A. McKenzie, spoke for the session, managers, and congregation. For the congregation, Mr McKenzie presented Mr and Mrs Paton .with a cheque. Miss Laishley presented a bouquet from the women. Mir Paton thanked the office-bearers and congregation for their support. The following contributed items;— Vocal solos, Mrs L. Vernazoni, Miss P. Dingle, and Mr B. Bale; pianoforte solos, Mr L. Burnett; recitations. Miss M. McKenzie. The choir also gave items.
