♦ OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service! WELLINGTON, June 24. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate westerly to southerly winds, becoming strong at times in exposed positions. Occasional rain in the ranges, and showers extending at times to parts of the plains; but weather otherwise fair. Temperatures cool, with some snow probable on the ranges. Seas slight to moderate, but rising. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is;— Moderate to strong south-west-erly winds. Weather cold and changeable, with passing showers and hail in places. Seas rather rough to rough. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Passing showers in western districts and the far south, elsewhere continuing fair, but some scattered showers extending later to eastern districts of the South Island. Temperatures becoming colder, with hail on parts of the Westland and Southland coasts, and with snow showers on' the higher country. A deep depression is centred to the south-east of the South Island, while an anti-cyclone covers eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea. Winds—Moderate to strong, and varying between west and south. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Moderate inshore on the East Coast, otherwise rough. Eastern Tasman Sea —Moderate to strong south-west winds and rough seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and warm, although the sky became overcast later in the day. The maximum temperature was 53.1 degrees and there was a light northerly breeze. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was no wind. The temperature was 38 degrees.
