* NOTICE OF MOTION TO COUNCIL An increase of 7-32 d in the £ in the total rating.in the borough of New Brighton, apart from drainage, hospital, river control, and tramway rates, was announced by the Mayor (Mr E. L. Smith) in a notice of motion to the Borough Council last evening. Details of the proposed rates were given as follows, with last year’s rates in parenthesis;— General, 5d in the £ (4 3132d); lighting, £d in the £ Qd); No. 1, and No. 3 loan, 9-32 din the £ (5-16 d); No. 1 conversion loan, 4d in the £ (3Jd); No. 2 conversion loan, 15-32 d in the £ (id). The rates will be submitted to the council for approval at its next meeting in a fortnight’s time.
