ITALIAN SUBMARINE SURRENDERS (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) (Received June 23, 11 p.m.) RUGBY, June 22, An Admiralty communique states: “A large ItaLan submarine after submerging, surrendered to His Majesty’s trawler Moonstone (650 tons), wich was patrolling in the Gulf of Aden. “The trawler attacked with depth charges which brought the submarine to the surface. The latter engaged the trawler with her entire armament. The trawler replied with her gun and a Lewis gun, scoring hits, “The submarine subsequently surrendered and was brought to Aden as a prize.” The submarine’s armament consisted of torpedoes, two 3.9-inch guns, and smaller guns. The armament of the trawler was a 4-inch gun and a Lewis gun.
