OCCUPATION WANTED

TO THE EDITOR OT THE PIIESS. Sir, —Would you be so good as to allow me to make this appeal through 1 your paper. I am looking lor something to do. I am an Air Force recruit. [ I have been waiting since last October : to be called up for training, and now - learn that I must wait until at least 1 next January. Soon after the out* 1 break of war I lost my position in ' the city when three of the staff were 1 put off. I then wont farming, but now the wheat is in and my employer has taken on a manager to train, preparatory to leaving himself to serve in the Air Force, and there is no further work' for me. I am, therefore, faced with finding something to do until I am called up. I have advertised without result, perhaps because I am 22 and so must be paid too large a wage. The war has placed me in an awkward position, but I am not complaining; no one is to blame, but I want something to do, anything so long as it is useful.' I cannot sit about doing nothing at a time like this, . and my educational course for the Air Force fills in only an hour or so a night. So I am appealing through you, hoping that one of your readers may be able to supply me with an occupation. I don’t care how hard or unpleasant the work so long as it keeps me occupied. Remuneration is not essentidf; I could manage to live without. Are people needed to help with the country’s war effort? Well, here’s one anxious to do just that. This is a desperate appeal. Should anyone reading .this require assistance of any kind, if they will write to me at the address given below, I shall be only too glad to give it.—Yours, etc., PHIL. STEWART. 165 Deans avenue, June 21, 1940.
