POINTS FROM OTHER LETTERS
“Intern the Nazis” thinks that aliens who are not now interned will give much trouble in New .Zealand before the war is over. He considers the time has come for a “sweeping and thorough alien internment policy." “D.M.” refers to the fact that the last war had been proceeding for two years before conscription was introduced, and under the Labour Government barely one year. “Yet the cry is,” writes the correspondent, “ ‘Give us a coalition government’ to cut things short, why can’t we have (although we are in the midst of a world’ war) a General Election? It would do less harm than the wrangle I have had' to listen to from this House this afternoon.” “Get a Move On” writes: “In England and France a Ministry goes out and is reformed overnight to advantage. Why not here t We have the same constitution, I believe, as England, with a Governor to represent the King. Why can-action not he taken in this crisis, when we need the best brains and all the energy the country can produce?”
