BUILDING TO PROCEED
OFFICES FOR INTERNAL MARKETING DIVISION [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, June 20. An intimation that the Government proposed to proceed with the erection of a building for the Internal Marketing Division in Auckland at a cost of about £IOO,OOO was given by the Minister for Finance (the Hon. W. Nash), when replying to a question by the Leader of the Opposition (the Hon. Adam Hamilton) in the committee stages on the Imprest Supply Bill in the House of Representatives to-night. “It does seem an unnecessary type of expense these days,” said Mr Hamilton. “Is there any great urgency for the internal marketing building in Auckland that is going 'to cost £100,000? There is another building in Auckland, a broadcasting building, that is going to cost a big amount of money. Surely these are expenditures that ought to coirTe under review.” Mr Nash said that if any member investigated the organisation of the Internal Marketing Division in Auckland, he would see that a building ought to be erected. The division was now organised in four parts of the city, which made the management almost impossible. The building had been contemplated for two years. The foundations had been in long before the war, and the steel was in the Dominion. The Government would stop the building if it would affect the war effort, but the facilities being provided were essential facilities. The Minister did not refer to the broadcasting building in Auckland.
