METHVEN GUN CLUB
* The Methven Gun Club’s monthly shoot was held on Saturday afternoon in a blustering north-west wind which made shooting somewhat difficult. In spite of this close shooting was registered, and in two matches shoot-offs were necessary. The usual six-bird (clays) sweepstake opened the programme, and in this W. M. Holland, G .A. Franks, S. H. Anderson, and F. Quested each divided the money, having broken the possible. ' The president’s handicap aggregate of 14 clay birds, with a sweepstake, resulted in T. S. Harrison and H. Cromie breaking the possible. L. C. Anderson and S. H. Anderson broke 13 and took second money. In a 12 clay bird match for a trophy. G. A. Franks, S. H. Anderson, and H. Cromie each broke the possible. Holland and Harrison, with 11, took second in the sweepstake. In the shoot-off, which w6nt to 10 birds, Franks won the trophy from Anderson. Cromie missed his fifth bird and retired. Anderson and Cromie divided first and second in the sweepstake. The final match was a nine-bird for trophies presented by Messrs Harrison and L. C. Anderson, with an added sweepstake. Holland, L. C. Anderson, Harrison, and Cromie each broke the possible and divided the sweepstake. Harrison, shooting for A. McLeod, won the first trophy on the sixth round. Holland missed on the sixth bird, Anderson and Cromie retiring on the fourth.
