TRAFFIC IN THE SQUARE

TO THB EDITOB OP THB PRESS. Sir,—l wonder if the authorities controlling traffic in Cathedral square have ever given a thought to the safety of the pedestrians. I doubt it very much. At least 95 per cent, of the wheeled- traffic entering the Square goes either north or south. The southbound traffic goes straight through, but the north traffic has to adhere to a hybrid gyratory system, thereby increasing the confusion and risks to the pedestrians by cutting through several busy pedestrian crossings. Why not let all traffic go straight through, and be done with it, instead, of hunting down the poor pedestrians, and give consideration to the elimination of all right-hand turns?— Yours, etc., • R.B.
