TERRITORIAL GUARD IN FRANCE

PARIS, June 9. In France, a War Territorial Guard is being: formed to fight the Fifth Column, and put down false reports. The Minister of Former Servicemen and Pensions (M, Paul Riviere) broadcast an appeal for support of the new guard. _ He said that he had received many' inquiries from former servicemen, who prevented by disabilities from joining the army, wished to know how they could- help. His appeal wag addressed especially to these men, whose records gave them the right to carry out the duties of the guard. Throughout France there was the will to resist, and complete confidence in ultimate victory. The Territorial Guard would be formed all over France, and volunteers would be required in every town and village; All foreigners, except British, have been ordered to hand over their arms to the French police. Persons entering or departing from France or the French empire are forbidden to carry correspondence or luggage.'
