HYDATIDS DANGER
TO THE EDITOR OP THE PRESS. Sir, —In view of all that has appeared in the daily papers concerning the danger of dogs infecting human beings with hydatids, it is somewhat disconcerting to read in a recent edition of “The Press” that a dog attended the Phillipstown School householders’ meeting and “sat impatiently for intervals on the low desks in the infant room." When one considers that these desks would be next day occupied by Infant scholars, it becomes apparent that if the dog which sat upon them was' infected with the parasite which propagates this loathsome disease, there would be a real danger that some of the pupils might become victims. I am fond of dogs, and like to see them in their proper place, but this, I consider. Is not sitting on the desks in an infant schoolroom. —Yours, etc., _ - WEST COASTER. Reefton, April 24, 1940.
