NORWAY’S WILL TO RESIST
“EVERY HOME NOW A STRONGHOLD” (satTisa erffciAt wistEtass.) rugby, April 28. “The people of-Norway have enjoyed peace for mere than 100 years,** said Mr Irik Goiban, the Norwegian Minister to Britain, in a speech in London. ’ “The War in which Norway is now engaged will show that individual freedom and personal liberty of action and opinion do not lessen but rather increase the power of resistance of the nation. Every home in Norway is a stronghold of freedom. ‘■The enemy may destroy much, but he can never stamp out of Norway the spirit of independence and personal freedom. “Norway was taken unawares and In defiance of international law, we were militarily unprepared.” Just because they felt the terrible injustice of th§ir position, the Norwegians were determined to resist aggression to the utmost. Referring to the fact that Canadians were among the Bri+ish forces in NoTway and to the messages of sympathy and material aid received from New Zealand, Mr Colban Said: “I believe the Whole British Empire watches Norway’s struggle With a strong feeling of our community interest. I know the Allied Governments have taken vigorous action for the battle to be fought- on Norwegian soil. 1 trust the action will be very strong and rapid*” ATTACH BY NAZI AIRCRAFT SINKING OF TRANSPORTS CLAIMED (Received April S3, 10 p.m.) BERLIN, April 23. The Official German News Agency says that German aeroplanes bombed and sank two British transports and set fire to a third at Andalsnes and Namsos yesterday, it also claims severe damage to two accompanying Warships.
