SUCCESS FOR POLISH SUBMARINE
♦- SINKING OF GERMAN TRANSPORT LONDON, April 19. It has been revealed in London that the submarine which sank the German troopship Dio de Janeiro was the Polish vessel Orzel, now attached to the Royal Navy. It escaped from Poland when that country was invaded, and made its way through the Baltic minefields to England. The British submarine Sea Lion sank the August Leonhardt on April 15. . War Policy Supported—The Congress of the Australian Council of Trade Unions carried by 67 votes to 65 a motion submitted by the executive supporting the Federal Labour Party’s war policy. Amendments i expressing opposition to the war on Socialist grounds were deleted.— Sydney, April 20.
