The engagement: is announced of Margaret Annie, second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. V. Gallan, Christchurch, to Ernest Malcolm, second son of Mrs and the late Mr W. G. Smith, Kaikoura. The engagement is announced of Harold Eric Hunter, eldest son of Mr* and Mrs E. D. Hunter, Timaru, to Maire, only daughter of the late Mr A. R. Fear, North Canterbury, and Mrs Carol Moor, Timaru.
HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
At the monthly meeting of the ladies’ auxiliary of the Home and School Association, Sumner, the president, Mrs Stevenson, presided. Miss C. Andrews, of the Sumner District High School, gave a further interesting talk on her recent trip abroad, which included an account of her activities as a helper during the evacuation of London school children prior to the outbreak of war. . Mrs Stevenson thanked Miss Andrews for her address.
