MATRICULATION
TO TAB fiJIATOB O? TA® PABSS. Sir,—Could something not be done about the unsatisfactory marking of the papers in the latest matriculation muddle? In “The Press'* this morning “Plain Jane” suggests a remarking of the students’ papers. As the parent of a child who worked studiously all last year.. sitting jp . late studying and worrying, and Showing pale and nervous, only to find that she had failed, I, too, with many other parents, suggest that the papers be remarked by someone who knows his or her job. Could you, as editor of our excellent morning paper, not bring some pressure to bear in the right quarter? In the arithmetic paper my child received S 3 marks—a friend of hers, nil. In the remarking the friend received more marks than my child, thus gaming her certificate, necessitating A tbe purchasing of a complete new set of books and a loss of nearly the whole
of the first term. The whole thing is farcical! It would be most interesting to know just how many two guineas are received each year and what happens to them. I know what little is received by those preparing the examination papers. . Will not some other disgusted parents take up this matter also and try to get satisfaction?— Yours, etc., TWO GUINEAS FOR NOTHING. April 19, 1940.
