HOURS OF WORK SETTLED
WARD FOR CANTERBURY INDUSTRIES
Che hours of work for employees in ! preserved food, 33m, and starch iustries of Canterbury have been tied in a hew award for the instry issued yesterday by Mr J. A. [mour, delegate to the Court of bitration. The hours clause—the ly section of the award not settled Conciliation Council—was centered recently "in the Industrial igistrate’s Court. Die award states that the ordinary urs of work shall not exceed 44 a tek during the summer months (Notnber 1 to April 30). to be worked tween, the hours of 7.30 a.m. and 5.30 n. on five days of the week, and 0 am. and noon on Saturdays; and a week during the winter months Cay 1 to October 31), to be worked tween the hours similar to those for 1 summer. ‘A five-day week of - 40 hours -was umed by..the union, but no evidence is called in support of this claim,” £ Magistrate’s memoranda state.
