THE GREY WARBLER

(By Donald Mcßae; Alford Forest) One day when I was walking through the bush I noticed a grey warbler’s nest hanging from a twig in the tree. Not long after the grey warbler itself came and flew round the nest till, it noticed me, then it flew to a near-by branch to watch what I was going to do. So then I looked in, and there, to my surprise, I saw an egg, pale blue with pink spots. The bird was grey with a little green in colour, and about the size of a tom-tit. This little chap lives on insects: he looks so funny dartin •'•here and there so quickly. The nests look very cosy for. the, cold weather. These birds seem to be very rare now, for I seldom see one; I hope they become more plentiful, for they are really harmless birds.
